Understanding the engagement
The County Government of Uasin Gishu sought to strengthen SME capability as a driver of local economic development, beginning with an evidence base of SMEs and their skill requirements.
The Challenge
What the engagement addressed
The county lacked reliable data on its SME population, and existing interventions were not systematically aligned to identified skill gaps. Training of trainers capacity was also limited.

WilCom conducted an SME census, designed a database, mapped existing skills, conducted a training needs analysis, developed curriculum, delivered training of trainers, and trained SMEs directly across the county.
